Boiling water taps

Image
From granite worktops and giant American-style fridges to shiny, integrated coffee machines, glossy kitchen catalogues offer a host of necessary — and some unnecessary — status symbols. But there is one item many families claim they can’t do without. As ever, property style guru Kirstie Allsopp is leading this trend, saying she adores her ‘amazing but expensive’ boiling water tap. She has said: ‘If I were getting married, I’d say sod everything else and get everyone to chip in for a boiling water tap.’ In a survey by home interior website Houzz, they topped the list of the most sought-after kitchen appliance. And in the past few years — fuelled by the trend for minimalist, clutter-free surfaces and time-saving devices — they have become mainstream. The taps can be used for making hot drinks, filling cooking pans and sterilizing baby bottles. Lisa Roberts-Goldner, of interior design company The Open Plan, says that when she started work 13 years ago, they were very expensiv...

Three years from now flying car will be very hot – ex-Googler

Image
Flying cars are poised to replace self-driving cars as the hot thing in the next three years according to ex-Googler and Kitty Hawk founder Sebastian Thrun. During his appearance at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco on Tuesday, Thrun, who is sometimes referred to as the godfather of the self-driving car, explained why he believes personal air travel will become an everyday occurrence in the near future. "The air is so free of stuff and unused compared to the ground," said Thrun, whose bold vision for the future was matched by his decidedly curious sartorial style. Thrun envisions a world where he can fly the 34 mile journey from Palo Alto to San Francisco in ten minutes, and get home at the end of the day to a bag of drone delivered groceries at his door. Technologies like AI and deep learning, as well as innovations in delivery drones, have enormous potential, Thrun said, though he acknowledged that most people today view flying cars as the stuff...

Habits that can damage your kidney

1) Abusing painkillers : Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may alleviate your aches and pains, but they can harm the kidneys. They are safe in moderation, but regular overuse can result in kidney damage and total kidney failure. 2) Too much salt:   Regularly eating too much salt can cause huge damage to your kidneys as well as other health problems. The kidneys metabolize 95 percent of the sodium consumed through food. When salt intake is high, the kidneys need to work harder to excrete the excess salt. This in turn can lead to decreased kidney functioning, causing water retention in the body. Water retention can cause a hike in blood pressure and increase the risk of developing kidney disease. 3) Eating too much meat:   The Kidney Foundation explains that protein derived from meat creates a lot of acid in the blood which can cause acidosis, a condition in which your kidneys can’t get rid of the acid fast enough. Protein is important for a healthy diet but must be ...

Credit: pinterest 1.) Begin to exercise if you don't already This might seem obvious, but adding some regular exercise into your daily routine can provide tremendous benefits to anyone who is feeling slow and sluggish. Simply getting blood flowing is enough to recycle nutrients and even just wake you up. 2.) Health living – three important health test

Image
Credit: pinterest According to Beverleigh, constant assessment of your health is a must if you want to live a long and disease free life. Sadly, many people are not taking the time to have the assessments carried before they run into serious health problems: full-blown health issues that could have been avoided. Fortunately, by educating yourself on the health tests you should be taking, you can have a better idea of which tests to get done to optimize your well-being. Why you should share ideas with your partner

Image
To see things from another perspective - Sometimes you don't even consider another way around something and all it takes is your partner to offer their take on things, which might completely change how you approach a project or situation. So neither of you is black and white - While decisiveness can be appropriate in some situations- in relationships there are a lot of greys so it's vital that you open up to them rather than seeing everything as one extreme of the other. Joint ideas can sometimes be better-   You both might have half-formed ideas that on their own don't work- however when you put your heads together- sometimes this makes for one great idea. To show that you're listening-   You may not agree with your partner's idea but they will appreciate you taking the time out to let them have their say all the same. It also shows respect-   If you dismiss all of your partner's ideas- it shows a lack of respect for their opinion and input, which ...
